IATSE 129 Now Representing Stagehands at FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton

On September 11, stagehands at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton voted for representation by IATSE Local 129. The group had approached the IATSE after becoming concerned over job security due to the pending departure of their Technical Director. Following some meetings with the stagehands, Local 129 filed for certification with the Ontario Labour Relations Board on September 4.
Assistance available for members affected by Hurricane Florence

The IATSE’s Walsh/Di Tolla/Spivak Foundation will provide financial assistance to affected IATSE members and their families in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence and other major storms. Money from the Foundation helps pay for food, clothing, shelter, and other necessities to affected IATSE members.
IATSE Celebrates Safe + Sound Week

Safe + Sound Week is a nationwide event to raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs that include management leadership, worker participation, and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards in workplaces. Over the course of the week, IATSE local unions and representatives were encouraged to highlight education opportunities and to talk about safety with members.
2018 Mid-Summer GEB Summary: IATSE Celebrates 125th Anniversary, Raises $22k for PAC, and Updates Equality Statement

Last week IATSE’s General Executive Board met at the Sheraton Times Square in New York City, where leaders and delegates celebrated the union’s 125th anniversary, raised $22k for the IATSE-PAC fund, and the General Executive Board unanimously voted to update IATSE’s equality statement. In attendance were 871 delegates representing 285 IATSE locals from all over the U.S. and Canada.
